GOD DOES NOT LIE !!!
Many people today are disillusioned. The entire financial world seems to be falling into some level of chaos which only adds to people’s apprehension not only about today but also about tomorrow.
People look around for what they can rely on because when they look into the financial markets they see failures, losses, uncertainty. When they look to politicians they see corruption, lack of principle and come away with the general opinion that ‘they are all alike- looking to feather their own nest…and all at the tax payer’s expense’.
Naturally many look to the church for some reliability and stability.
But then they read that many eminent church leaders do not believe what the Bible says- which many other areas of the church say is the inerrant word of God.
So who do they trust? Who can they trust?
Psalm 118 v8 says this- “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in Him than to trust in princes”
Well, that’s fine but don’t men and women too in this day and age, play a leading part in ‘running’ the church?
The Apostle Paul, in his letter to Titus- Ch 1 v2, says this …a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time and at His appointed time brought His word to light…”
“God who does not lie.” If ever there was a confident word about God issued by man that surely ranks with the highest.
And yet…high placed religious leaders in the church including the Archbishop of Canterbury and several bishops make statements that they either do not accept or do not believe, certain statements made in the Bible about God, Jesus Christ and other practical aspects relating to Christianity.
The Apostle Paul again, in his second letter to the church leader Timothy(Ch 3 v 16) says, again with the utmost confidence, - “All scripture is God breathed…”
But the Archbishop and various Bishops in their academic arrogance contest parts of it.
So who do you trust?
God speaks through the prophet Isaiah in Ch66 v2 and says this- “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”
The arrogant do not tremble because they are more confident in their own knowledge than in the truth of God’s Word. So who do you trust? Who should you trust?
There is often a clamouring for politicians to resign on a point of principle when they have been found dishonourable for the role. Are Bishops who do not believe in the Word of God above a similar call? Is there honour in a man who will take a financial living from the offerings of worshippers, albeit indirectly, whilst not totally believing in the majesty, authority and absolute truthfulness of the God the worshippers think he is proclaiming?
Doesn’t God promise to bring a trembling to such arrogant leaderships and self satisfying shepherds of Israel in Ezekiel Ch 34 v1-10 for being busy looking after their own interests and allowing the flock to wander from God?
Won’t God do the same with arrogant and self satisfying shepherds of His church who allow His sheep to wander away in confusion and neglect?
Through Isaiah God states that if anyone will not tremble at His word - He is not with them- so who are such leaders proclaiming for much of their ministry…and who is with them?
Would you fly in a plane piloted by a man who did not believe the flight paths given to him?
The answer of course is not to abandon the concept of church because of such leadership in one particular place. The answer is to find a leadership more faithful to God and what He says, for at the end of the day the price to be paid is the eternity of your soul.
So who will you trust?
