IS THIS THE WAY TO...?
It’s very sad isn’t it to see politicians running around like headless chickens trying to scratch some comfort from somewhere on how to patch up the breakdown of society as we know it.
Different and various bodies are established with fresh faced graduates enrolled to research and devise ways of ‘improving’ society where it is weak. But these are set up with old stage politicians as their point of reference. Result? Conflict and ignorance resulting in one criticism lately that we, as a nation, are run by amateurs.
Computer models are devised, psychologists and psychiatrists are consulted and even successful business men and motivational speakers appear of the reference lists. And society splutters and coughs through the process of implementing another man made idea. A new world needs new ideas they say.
The Bible, however, says that the precepts of men will always fail because they cannot change the hearts of men. (Colossians Ch2 v10)
How does providing contraception pills to teenage girls change either behaviour or heart intent? It merely declares out loud- “Let us help you to make your unwise practise safer” That is like putting a safety helmet on a young boy intent on running across a busy road - rather than educating him about the disastrous life changing folly on which he about to embark. We are rolling down hill to hell- with a little help from political ‘friends’.
If any politician who took the situation seriously would not rule out any possible option but on that rock all real beneficial progress comes to grief for man, in his wisdom and arrogance has ruled out God’s way and man’s pride, his fear of holding hands up to say ’we ’were wrong’, grips the hearts of the wishful thinking reformers and God is pushed to the back of the cupboard once again.
In Jeremiah Ch6 v 16 God addresses wayward Israel faced with a moral and faith crisis and says -”Stand at the cross roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls”. But, sadly, the passage goes on to reflect the UK at present - “But you said ‘We will not walk in it’…‘But you said ‘We will not listen’”
Any reasonable consideration of the outcome of the Welsh Spiritual Revival of 1904/1905 would surely challenge such views of any reasonable person.
The noticeable fall in crime, drunkenness, debt, policing, together with a significant boost to society in general and the general improved demeanour, work ethics and acceptance of personal accountability of the people surely calls out for consultation.
Recovering such a situation however is a totally different matter. In a nation where God’s church itself spends at best one hour a week, on average, corporately beseeching God in prayer and that often restricted to selected issues - who will direct the nation to its knees in repentance seeking God‘s forgiveness?
With the vilification of all who have challenged Global warming issues over recent years and the recent, startling revelations over Climate change fraudulent claims isn’t it time we stood back and once again revisited issues that have been discounted and brushed aside by a pseudo wisdom that has been found wanting on too many occasions?
One stark problem with the macho man of today, even within God’s own church, lies in his refusal to accept God and all His ways for that would require him to accept competition for lordship of his life…and the pride of man will not allow such a thing. Which is why God has so much to say about the sin of pride and its hindering of man’s path to wholeness.
Today’s church appoints men of standing…the ancient church appointed men of kneeling. Thereby lies the challenge to God’s church today.
The question is- how many will approach God’s throne in humility with broken hearts over their sin and with contrite spirits to repent to pick up that challenge? How many tears are shed today in prayer? How many hearts ache over the state of the nation…over the state of the church which decides God’s wisdom for Him.
The Bible says- “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord”. Jesus Christ is coming again to rule on earth…surely it makes sense to get used to Him ruling our hearts now.
The antichrist spirit that struts the world today in the hearts of men needs to be deposed and evicted and an open arm, open heart invitation to the Holy Spirit of God extended.
